GamCare looks to invest in computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
National problem gambling support charity, GamCare, has released an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the provision of computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (cCBT) software, tailored to those requiring the support services offered by GamCare.
The charity’s face-to-face, online and telephone treatment services, which come in addition to the National Gambling HelpLine and NetLine, are largely focused upon CBT practices. The new software will eventually be integrated into GamCare’s support network, which already comprises of advice, information and self-help resources.
Anna Hemmings, Chief Executive Officer at GamCare, commented: “Offering our service users a range of effective and flexible treatment options, including digital interventions to suit them, will mean that we are able to reach more people affected by problem gambling.”
The industry charity is currently seeking to offer a new range of end-to-end digital interventions, which are intended to enhance the existing provisions in place, as well as helping GamCare’s services become more readily available to those affected by problem gambling.
The new services will include new provisions being put in place which will offer digital screening for problem gambling using a validated screening tool such as PGSI; an option of brief intervention modules of up to 15 minutes which will be recommended based on the outcome of screening, and which can also be used as standalone modules by GamCare’s Frontline Service Advisers.
Users will also be able to access a provision of cCbt for a maximum of ten sessions, all of which last between 20 minutes and one hour.
Data and analytics collected by GamCare will be used by the charity to monitor individual behaviours, progress, attrition and outcomes – as well as tailoring follow-up programmes for all participants. For more information on the tender, click here.
